AS24115 Equinix – world digital infrastructure company, and Indonesian conglomerate Astra International, AS58481, have announced a joint venture to develop a datacenter in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The joint venture will construct and manage a new datacenter at Jakarta’s International Business Exchange (IBX) with later plans for further expansion.

The eight-story JK1 IBX datacenter is expected to open by the second half of 2024 and is forecast to provide more than 1,600 datacenter cabinets and more than 5,300 square meters of colocation space. With Astra’s deep local know-how and vast experience in various sectors in Indonesia, Equinix believes the joint venture is well-placed to unlock the potential of the Indonesian datacenter market.

Equinix currently operates 51 datacenters in Asia Pacific which are located in key metros across Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, and Singapore.
