The first live 5G service has been launched on the Isle of Man – thanks to investment from AS201898 Bluewave Communications, an AQL company – and the island’s first 5G mobile operator. For the first time, companies on the Isle of Man will have access to 5G.
The launch of BlueWave 5G was announced at a recent Northern Powerhouse event, hosted by the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce, where cultural and business leaders explored economic opportunities for the island through its links with the North of England.
The launch by BlueWave Communications includes building on-island mast and fiber infrastructure, along with creating terabits of connectivity capacity off-island, connecting to Leeds, Manchester, and London and to the global Internet hubs which will provide companies access to world-class connectivity at costs on par with major European cities.
The 5G network will complement the island’s existing capability and coverage footprint.
